| THAT LOOKS A LOT BETTER |
This afternoon I fitted and treated it and I think that you will agree it looks a lot better match with the saddle than the lighter coloured Cinelli tape that was originally fitted to the Cinelli bars. I am out riding on the Felt tomorrow, so it won't be until early next week that I get out on the Tifosi with it's increased Retro look.

We need some close ups to fully inspect the wrap job though.
What do you reckon that's worth then - an extra mile an hour? Maybe two? That was always my excuse for upgrading.

The last time I did a wrap was over forty years ago. I wouldn't say this is perfect, although I think that it would pass muster...!

Not so much an 'upgrade' - more a 'sideways grade'. Probably still worth the extra mile an hour though.

As you very well know, you can't go wrong with Brooks bar tape (or any Brooks). My prediction that it was bar tape was may be right? :)

and don't you love the feel of that leather bar tape? Total Jaguar(ish) luxuriousness. BTW Velo Orange do a great leather bar tape at about half the cost although I must admit it doesn't have quite the same sense of elan as the Brooks.

Looks great! My Brooks Swift is black, to match my bike's color scheme ... but I love the honey color. I use Specialized super-comfy "Bar Phat" for my tape, so I'm a little afraid of the tough-looking leather. But it sure looks awesome. Although my personal tape-wrapping job is nothing to brag about, I love its imperfections because I did it myself. A little do-it-yourself chic is a nice thing for a bike!

ReplyDeleteThe leather bar tape is more comfortable than you would expect although I wouldn't think it would be as comfortable as the 'Bar Phat'. It's a bit like the saddles...the longer you use it the more comfortable it seems.
Your right about the wrapping imperfections...makes it all the more special when you have done it yourself...!
